Letter from the new Chairman following AGM (27-8-09):
Hi All.
Well, a new year and new challenges ahead. As some of you may already know, I have been voted in as the new chairman for the next 12 months, with new members being voted onto the committee.
I would like to thank Martin and the old committee for their past efforts and hard work in keeping the club going. I would also like to welcome the new committee members and thank them for volunteering to help the club move forward over the following months. For your information, the current committee is as follows:
Clive Richards (Chairman & Membership Secretary)
Dave Harvey (Treasurer)
Steve Traill (Club Secretary)
Steve Proud (Website Administrator)
Fran Marriot (Events/Green Lane Officer)
John Scholes (Public Display Officer)
Darryl Simmons (Chief Marshall)
Andy Doe (Scrutineer)
Neil Parsons (Scrutineer)
We have many hopes and ambitions for the club to proceed forward, the main change being an openness to the membership in welcoming ideas, suggestions or criticisms and working with the members to ensure the smooth running of the club. Unless absolutely necessary for health and safety, or financial reasons, the rules and regulations of the club will not be changed once voted upon.
Drive days will revert back to being easier, non-damaging (as far as possible) events suitable for beginners and families, but with some optional routes for the more adventurous. We also hope to include some practice punches where a site allows, so that novices can have a go at the ‘challenge experience’ if they wish, under the watchful eye of an experienced member.
Challenge rules and classes have been discussed and finalised, and can be found in the 'Rules and Regulations' section of the site.
Our main aim is to create a fun, friendly, family feel to the club, welcoming members and non-members alike regardless of how many meetings they attend throughout the year. We want everyone to have an enjoyable experience with their off-roading hobby.
We look forward to seeing you soon at one of our events and hope you benefit from the changes the new committee have made to encourage the ‘feel good’ factor that the club used to enjoy.
All the best,
Clive.
